Inward Processing Case Study

Key Results

Seamless and efficient application process

Avoided operational disruption

Providing support with the IP renewal application and HMRC audit to assist in retaining IP status for a client

Overview

Inward Processing (IP) allows a company to conditionally import goods without paying taxes. We were approached by a client as their IP status was due to expire and they required assistance with coordinating and preparing the renewal application to be submitted to HMRC. The client was going through a structural change which meant they required in house project support.

Approach

We conducted a review to ensure we had a deep understanding of the client’s current processes. Our findings were presented in a report, identifying improvements that could be made to increase efficiency and compliance.

Following this, we interacted with stakeholders across the client’s business to collate the information needed to complete the application. We were able to share knowledge with the client based on previous experience in this area, meaning the application was completed to the required standard. We also provided support to personnel during the 3-day HMRC audit that followed the application process.

Deliverables

For the duration of the project, we used our knowledge and experience to ensure the application process was as seamless and efficient as possible. Our support enabled the client to focus on their core operations, meaning no interruptions occurred whilst the structural changes took place. We allowed our client to avoid the costs associated with any operational hold ups had the IP authorisation not been approved for use.
